Registered Political Parties Get their Position on Ballot Paper

The National Election Committee (NEC) organised here this morning the drawing lots ceremony to determine the order of each the 20 registered political parties on the ballot paper for the 6th National Election.

According to NEC's news release, the draw was taken by His Holiness Buddhist Supreme Patriarch General Tep Vong, Buddhist Supreme Patriarch of Dhamma Mahanikaya, and His Holiness Samdech Preah Abhisiri Sugandha Mahasangharajah Dhipati Bour Kry, Great Supreme Patriarch of Dhammayuttikaya of Cambodia, in the presence of NEC Chairperson H.E. Sik Bun Hok, representatives of all political parties, concerned institutions, Chinese Embassy, Royal Thai Embassy, experts of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and national and international journalists.

As a result, the first political party to appear on the ballot paper is Khmer National United Party, followed by Our Motherland Party, New Light Party, Cambodian Nationality Party, Khmer Rise Party, Beehive Social Democratic Party, Grassroots Democracy Party, Republican Democratic Party, Reaksmey Khemra Party, League for Democracy Party, Khmer Republican Party, Khmer Anti-Poverty Party, FUNCINPEC Party, Khmer Economic Development Party, Cambodian Youth Party, Dharmacracy Party, Khmer Will Party, Cambodia Indigenous People Democracy Party, Khmer United Party, and the ruling Cambodian People's Party.

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and President of CPP, shared a congratulatory message on his social media. This morning, NEC already held the drawing lots ceremony for the position [on ballot paper] of the 20 political parties participating in the Election of Members of the National Assembly in the 6th Legislature on July 29, 2018. CPP got No. 20 which is easy to remember for the citizens, he said.

NEC is going to print 10,525,650 ballot papers for the National Election on July 29, 2018. Of the ballot papers, 3,296,200 will be printed as samples, and will be used for practical training among NEC's officials at all planned polling stations across the country.

Over eight million eligible Cambodian citizens have been registered for the upcoming political race.
