Existence of Rattanakiri's first cassava processing plant is pushing up the market price of the crop in the north-eastern province, according to local media report.
As quoted by the source, Dr. Soy Sona, Director of Rattanakiri Provincial Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department, made known that the newly opened processing plant is owned by a local investor.
The plant, the director added, is capable to produce about 300 tons of cassava flour from 1,000 tons of fresh cassava per day.
However, the plant is humbly starting with the daily volume of 10-20 ton cassava flour production due to some challenges with cassava collection, especially from faraway farms.
