Cambodia has inked a project to promote sustainable energy implementation in the country’s garment sector.

The project agreement was officially signed early this month by the Ministries of Environment and Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

H.E. Tung Ciny, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation; H.E. Vann Monyneath, Director General of the General Department of Policy and Strategy at the Ministry of Environment; and Ms. Shomi Kim, GGGI representative signed the agreement.

H.E. Tin Ponlok, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment and 2nd Vice President of the National Council for Sustainable Development presided over the singing event that took pace at Kep province.

It is expected that the move will contribute to promoting competitiveness of Cambodia garment factories, responsive to the current global context.

The effort will also reduce the environmental impact of the industry

A project to promote sustainable energy funded by the European Union is being implemented by GGGI in collaboration with GERES and the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC).
