Prey Veng Province Makes History with Its Sankranta’s Turnout

Cambodia's Prey Veng province has made a history with about 220,000 people attending the province's Sankranta 2018, according to local media report.

Led by the Provincial Governor H.E. Chea Somethy and H.E. Sar Sokha, Lawmaker and Vice President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), the Prey Veng Sankranta introduced various traditional entertainment activities, ranging from Khmer popular games, achievement parades by provincial departments, to performances and shows, and concerts.

'Sankranta' has been branded for cultural festival organised during Khmer New Year Days, and locals in different provinces or locations contextualise the event basing on their uniqueness.

Prey Veng is a small, but populated agricultural province located on the south-eastern bank of Mekong River. It is well-known for its many temples and scenic attractions as well as its nature and wildlife preserve.

Number of people partaking in Prey Veng Sankranta 2018, starting from Apr. 12 to 16, suggests a historic move of the province.
