President of Germany Begins Three-day Official Visit in Cambodia

President of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and the First Lady Elke Büdenbender started their two-day official visit in Cambodia, at the invitation of Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, Acting Head of State and President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The German leader and his spouse arrived at Siem Reap International Airport this morning. They were warmly welcomed upon arrival by H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment as Minister-in-attendance and H.E. Tea Seiha, Governor of Siem Reap province and his spouse, as well as many other senior officials.

According to the schedule, in Siem Reap province, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit Halo Trust and Angkor Archaeological Park.

In Phnom Penh, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier will hold official talks with the Acting Head of State Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, and with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, during which various aspects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation as well as issues of common interests will be discussed.

H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier will lay wreathes at the Independence Monument and the Royal Memorial Statue of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah NORODOM SIHANOUK “PREAH BOROM RATANAK KAUDH”, the late King-Father of Cambodia.

H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier will also visit Tuol Sleng Genocidal Museum in Phnom Penh.

“The coming historic Official Visit of the German President to Cambodia will open a golden page in the history of the traditional relations of excellent friendship and cooperation between the two countries and further enhance the existing excellent ties and cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two peoples,” said the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
