Preah Sihanouk Boosting Underwater Tourism

Preah Sihanouk provincial administration is studying underwater tourism – scuba diving tourism – as it is gaining support from national and international tourists.
Coral reefs are gradually becoming a new tourism product for this coastal province, said Deputy Provincial Governor Mr. Long Dimanche.
“Scuba diving tourism is interested among tourists, which leads the provincial administration to do more research on areas where tourists can dive to see the corals and how to keep the tourists safe,” he said.
Preah Sihanouk province has the largest coral area of 1,191 hectares, while Kampot province has 953 hectares, Koh Kong province 602 hectares, and Kep province 52 hectares, according to the Ministry of Environment.
Preah Sihanouk provincial administration will increase the coast guard and provide weather information, as well as emergency response team.
Through existing and new tourism products, Mr. Long Dimanche expected that in 2022, Preah Sihanouk province will be able to receive about 1.3 million tourists, of them 250,000 are foreign visitors.
