PM Receives a Delegation of International Election Observers

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this morning at the Peace Palace a visiting delegation of international election observers from the Centrist Democrat International (CDI), International Conference of Asian Political Parties, and Centrist Asia Pacific Democrats International (CAPDI).<

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian premier, Mr. Andres Pastrana Arango, President of CDI and former President of Colombia, who led the delegation, told Samdech Techo Hun Sen that this is his third visit to Cambodia, the purpose of which is to represent Colombia to learn about Cambodia's experience, mainly in democratisation process, and share it with the world, and to observe the Commune/Sangkat Council Election to take place tomorrow.

For his part, Mr. Jose De Venecia, Representative of ICAPP, noted the smooth process of the Commune/Sangkat Council Election campaign in Cambodia, especially the last day of campaign, which shows that democracy in Cambodia is advancing.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the international observers for their presence at the forthcoming local election, adding that they will see the real situation of tomorrow's election supported materially and technically by the European Union and Japan.

On the same day, the delegation of international election observers also paid a courtesy call on Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate.
