Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has ordered the Ministry of Interior to stop the feasibility study of creation of new provinces.
While presiding over the celebration of Teachers' Day 2018 at the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen instructed the Ministry of Interior to end the study of division of Kandal and Mondulkiri provinces into new provinces.
The Office of the Council of Ministers was also advised to issue an official announcement on this matter.
No need to use the pretext of bringing services closer to the people. The problem relies on whether we do it (provide services to people) or not, underlined the Premier.
According to the Ministry of Interior's request for a study to create new provinces, some parts of Kandal province will become a new province, while the other new province will take some parts of Koh Nhek district of Mondulkiri province and Lumphat district of Rattanakiri province.
