Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this afternoon voiced his support to the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP).
Addressing at the closing ceremony of the 2nd International Conference on ASEAN MRA-TP, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the ASEAN MRA-TP is a mechanism to improve the tourism professional training system, reduce the gap of knowledge and skills between regional professionals and facilitate the exchange of experience in skill development between the member countries.
Therefore, he underlined, state institutions, private sector, national and international organisations and development partners should provide more cooperation and support for the effective implementation of this ASEAN MRA-TP and for the achievement of common goals of ASEAN.
The ASEAN MRA-TP Agreement is organised in accordance with the ASEAN Tourism Agreement, signed by the ASEAN Leaders during the 8th ASEAN Summit on Nov. 4, 2002, then MRA-TP was signed by the ASEAN Tourism Ministers during the ATF in 2009 in Hanoi, Vietnam, aiming at facilitating the mobility of tourism professionals in the region in terms of 32 job titles in hotel and travel services, and exchanging experiences on best practices in education and training human resources in tourism as well as to address the skills gap of the professionals.
The 2nd International Conference on ASEAN MRA-TP, held on June 20-21 in Phnom Penh, attracted some 700 delegates from relevant institutions in ASEAN and its dialogue partners (China, Japan and Korea).
