Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this evening said that there would be a meeting between the Chinese Defence Minister H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe and U.S. Secretary of Defence H.E. Lloyd J. Austin III in Siem Reap province, which would lead to regional and global stability.
“In the coming days, if nothing changes, the Chinese defence minister and the U.S. secretary of defence will meet in Siem Reap. Cambodia can be considered a place of reconciliation between the superpowers that would lead to the stability in the region and the world,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said while presiding over the official opening ceremony of the 3rd National Games and 1st National Para Games at Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh.
The planned meeting will be held on the sidelines of the 9th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat, 9th ADMM-Plus, and Related Meetings hosted by Cambodia from Nov. 21 to 23.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister will preside over the opening ceremony of the above-said meetings tomorrow.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also re-emphaised the importance of peace, saying that without peace, there will be neither sports nor socio-economic development, democracy, human rights and others. He therefore re-appealed to his compatriots to join hands in maintaining peace for the national development.
