PM Calls on Tourists to Strictly Implement Health Safety Measures

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has continued reminding people of the health safety measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, while tourist resorts across the country had resumed their operations.
“Dear compatriots! Tourism is considered a smoke-free industry. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, tourism in the world, and in particular in Cambodia has declined significantly until now. Although the Royal Government of Cambodia has lifted some restrictions by authorising the reopening of tourism resorts, please do not forget to apply the ‘3 don’ts and 3 dos’ measure strictly and learn to live the new normal life to contribute with the Royal Government in preventing larger spread of COVID-19 in the community,” he underlined in a short message on his official Facebook page on May 26.
Cambodia registered a total of 52,891 domestic visitors on May 22-23, the third weekend of May, according to the statistic released by the Ministry of Tourism.
The figure shows an increase of 6.11 percent compared to the previous weekend. The most visited tourism destinations were Kampot province, followed by Kep, Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Speu, Preah Sihanouk and Pursat provinces.
In the past four weeks after the Royal Government lifted interprovincial travel ban and resort temporary closure, some 131,490 domestic visitors toured the country.
The Ministry of Tourism have so far advised the provincial and municipal tourism departments and tourism-related businesses as well as other relevant parties to strengthen the health preventive measures to ensure safety of the tourists and community.
