Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed for more Vietnamese investments in Cambodia, according to a special report of the National Television of Kampuchea (TVK).
The Cambodian Premier made the appeal at the Vietnamese-Cambodian Business Forum yesterday evening upon his arrival in Hanoi, Vietnam for a three-day official visit.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged Vietnamese investors who have not yet come to Cambodia to study investment potential and opportunities in the Kingdom as well as to gain tremendous benefits from the bilateral cooperation between both nations.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister also briefed them on the country's potential sectors for investment as well as its policies, strategies and warm welcome for all foreign investors.
Last year, he pointed out, the Cambodia-Vietnam bilateral trade reached US$2.13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent. Cambodia exported some US$342 million worth of products to Vietnam and imported from this neighbouring nation up to US$1.8 billion.
For foreign direct investment, the Council for the Development of Cambodia's report shows that as of November 2018, 75 Vietnamese investment projects worth US$2.4 billion in agriculture and infrastructure have been recorded in Cambodia.
Vietnam is currently among the top ten foreign investors in the Kingdom.
The Vietnamese-Cambodian Business Forum was attended by Prime Minister of Vietnam H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, many Vietnamese businesspersons and members of the Cambodian and Vietnamese Chambers of Commerce.
Cambodia and Vietnam are going to sign six cooperation deals during Samdech Techo Hun Sen's visit in the country on Dec. 6-8, three of which are related to land, water and air transport, while three others are the agreement on education cooperation plan for 2019, minutes document on border demarcation between the two countries, and document on trade promotion coordination for 2018-2019.
