PM Awards US$100,000 to Cambodian National Football Team

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has awarded US$100,000 to the Cambodian national football team after winning over Guam football team at a qualifier in Bahrain.

The award will be handed over to the team via H.E. Gen. Sao Sokha, President of the Football Federation of Cambodia, said the Premier on his official Facebook page on Sept. 13.

"I would like to congratulate the Cambodian national team on their victory over the United States' Guam team in the second leg of play-off at Khalifa Sport City, Bahrain," he added. “I would also like to praise Mr. Honda for leading the Cambodian national team to gain this success.”

After beating Guam 1:0 in the first match on Oct. 9 and 2:1 in the second match on Oct. 12, Cambodia advanced to the third round of qualifier competition for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

In the third round of qualifier course, there will be 6 poles, and each pole has 4 teams. The competition will take place from February to September 2022.

The winning teams in the third round of qualifier competition in 2022 will continue to the finals in 2023 in China.
