Platform of Bakan Tower at Angkor Wat to be Consolidated

AKP Phnom Penh, APSARA National Authority is going to consolidate the platform of Bakan tower at Angkor Wat Temple.

A traditional ceremony was held recently to pray for safety and success of the restoration work, pointed out a news release of the APSARA National Authority issued yesterday.

Mr. Mao Sokny, head of the project of the Department of Conservation of Monuments in Angkor Park and Preventive Archaeology, said that the project would run for five years with the aim of consolidating the platform of Bakan tower after the stones separated.

"We are studying the shape of stones in order to divide them into the right category, so it is easy when we put the stones back together," he added.

According to the project manager, the condition of the platform of Bakan tower at Angkor Wat Temple has been partially torn down and the team will prepare to get the stones back to their original position.

Mr. Mao Sokny stated that the restoration project will not affect the visit, because it will be divided into phases.
