Phnom Penh municipal authorities are taking administrative measures to combat and prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The measures, which will last for 14 days, will come into effect from July 29, at 23:59 to Aug. 12, underlined a new instruction of the municipal administration made public this afternoon.
During the two-week period, underlined the same source, high-risk occupational and business activities such as in-class learning; KTVs, nightclubs, beer gardens and casinos; resorts, museums, playgrounds, and amusement parks; massage therapy, sauna and steam businesses; alcoholic beverage outlets; cinemas, theatres, sports clubs, and fitness centres will be banned.
All restaurants, eateries, food stores, coffee shops, and other food and beverage outlets are allowed to operate as normal but with takeaways only, it continued.
Moreover, it added, private gatherings of over 10 people will be forbidden, but with some exceptions, while a curfew must be imposed from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am, except for emergency health and family reasons, medical, firefighting and utility services, and so on.
Occupational and business activities and gatherings that are not restricted must carry out the health safety rules strictly, it stressed.
Last night, the Royal Government of Cambodia announced to conduct a two-week nationwide campaign against the COVID-19 spread, as the country is facing the arrival of 3rd wave of large transmission caused by Delta variant.
All provinces and capital are instructed to simultaneously take administrative and health safety measures as well as to reinforce legal measure in their respective geographical areas, and to strictly carry out those measures during this campaign.
Besides curfew and ban of high-risk occupational and business activities, the identification of affected areas into Red, Dark Yellow and Yellow zones is also part of the measures to be taken by the provincial and municipal authorities.
Preventing or cutting off Delta transmission in community is the major priority and highest responsibility of each province and capital, especially the bordering provinces, therefore the measures taken must be strict and immediate.
Ministries and public institutions, private sector as well as private individuals are encouraged to use rapid antigen test kits during this 14-day campaign so as to contribute with the Royal Government in combating and preventing the COVID-19 spread.
As of this morning, Cambodia's COVID-19 tally rose to 75,917, of which 10,049 were imported. Delta variant has been so far detected on more than 100 people in Cambodia, most of them are Cambodian migrant workers returning from Thailand.
