A total of 203,921 national and international visitors travelled across Cambodia in the second weekend of September.
The figure suggested a slight increase by 0.63 percent compared to the previous weekend, pointed out the Ministry of Tourism, adding that of the tourists, 185,406 were national visitors and 18,515 were internal foreign tourists.
Preah Sihanouk coastal province remains the most popular tourist destination among domestic tourists, followed by the provinces of Kampot, Siem Reap and Battambang, and Phnom Penh capital. Kep, Kampong Cham, and Kampong Speu provinces are also among the eight most visited destinations.
Recently, to further boost internal tourism, the Royal Government of Cambodia has announced to grant free passes to all foreigners residing in Cambodia for two years and over to visit the Angkor Archeological Park in Siem Reap province and Koh Ker Temple in Preah Vihear province once a year.
At the International Travel Expo (ITE) HCMC 2022 in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam on Sept. 7, 2022, Cambodia won two awards – the Asia’s Leading Culture Destination 2022 and Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2022 – from the World Travel Awards.
