Outcomes of H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin’s Working Visit to Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation this evening released a press release on the outcomes of the working visit of H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar to Cambodia on Dec. 6-7.

"Outcomes of the Working Visit of H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, to the Kingdom of Cambodia

On 06-07 December 2021

At the invitation of His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 06-07 December 2021.

During the visit, H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin paid a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which featured a rich exchange of views on bilateral relations and recent regional development. There was also a candid discussion on how to support efforts in addressing Myanmar crisis, as well as enhancing ASEAN Centrality and solidarity. Samdech Techo Prime Minister accepted an invitation to visit Myanmar on 07-08 January 2022.

In the bilateral meeting between His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, the discussion focused on ASEAN matters as well as bilateral cooperation. Myanmar’s Foreign Minister congratulated Cambodia as the incoming Chair of ASEAN in 2022 and expressed full support for Cambodia’s priorities and deliverables. While appreciating the result of the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting in April, Myanmar also looked forward to welcoming and coordinating with the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair in fulfilling the five-point consensus, including improving humanitarian relief delivery.

In the joint effort to fight against COVID-19, H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin appreciated Cambodia’s timely assistance in cash and kind which contributed to Myanmar’s effort to control and mitigate the severe impacts of COVID-19 to the country. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister thanked Myanmar for providing Cambodian nationals living and working in Myanmar with COVID-19 vaccination and requested Myanmar to render them necessary support for their stay. Both sides agreed to enhance works in advancing cooperation on areas such as trade, economic, people-to-people exchanges as well as cooperation on multilateral fora."
