NO POSTPONEMENT TO CAMBODIA’S JULY GENERAL ELECTION: PM

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Monday that there would be no any postponement to the general election, which is scheduled for July 29 this year, China's Xinhua news agency reported.

"For the election, there is no any moving backwards, and there is no any postponement to happen," he said in a speech during a university graduation ceremony here.

He said the government vowed to ensure the safety of the election, and the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) would comply with all procedures and regulations set out by the National Election Committee.

The National Election Committee on Monday began registering political parties for the upcoming election and the registration will run until May 14.
