NIDIR, KAS Co-organise Roundtable Discussion on Diversifying Options for Cambodia’s Economic Diplomacy Strategy

The National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR) and Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Cambodia co-organised at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Phnom Penh on July 2 the 'Roundtable Discussion on Diversifying Options for Cambodia's Economic Diplomacy Strategy: German and Southeast Asian Perspectives,' The event was attended by around 40 participants who are high-level officials from concerned ministries, experts and representatives from some embassies and privative sectors in Cambodia. H.E. Lim Visal, Secretary of State and Director of Cabinet of H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, presided over the opening of the roundtable discussion. He emphasised the importance of the ministry's Economic Diplomacy strategy which is in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), the discussions mainly focused on (i) MFAIC's developme nt and the implementation of the Economic Diplomacy Strategy 2021-2023 as well as the challenges faced, (ii) Cambodia's investment strategy from the Council for the Development of Cambodia's perspectives, and (iii) analysing the case study of a Southeast Asian nation which strived for economic growth and identifying strengths and opportunities are important in light of the current geopolitical tensions.
