New UNAIDS Country Director Pledges to Strengthen Cooperation with National AIDS Authority

New UNAIDS Country Director to Cambodia, Ms. Patricia Ongpin has pledged to strengthen cooperation with the National AIDS Authority to achieve the 95-95-95 target by 2025.

The pledged was made during a courtesy meeting between Cambodian Senior Minister and Chair of the National AIDS Authority H.E. Ieng Mouly and Ms. Patricia Ongpin, new UNAIDS Country Director to Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia at the Authority’s office in Phnom Penh this week.

On the occasion, the new UNAIDS country director expressed her support and praised Cambodia on the achievement in every field. For HIV/AIDS response, Cambodia has been at the forefront in Asia and the Pacific, she underlined.

The first case of HIV infection was reported in Cambodia in 1991. The Kingdom was one of the seven countries globally to have achieved the 90-90-90 HIV/AIDS target in 2017.
