New Surgical Building at Kratie Referral Hospital Inaugurated

AKP Phnom Penh, Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng on Dec. 6 presided over the inauguration of a new surgical building at Kratie provincial referral hospital funded by the Foundation for International Development/Relief (FIDR), a Japanese development and relief agency.

H.E. Mikami Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, underlined that the facility demonstrates FIDR's continuing effort to support the well-being of Cambodians.

The existence of the two-storey building, he added, will not only ease the work of the doctors at the hospital but also allow it to provide surgeries for patients without having to send them for such service in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Mam Bunheng thanked FIDR as well as the Government and people of Japan for the support, stressing that Japan plays a vital role in health sector development in Cambodia at both national and sub-national levels.

While acknowledge the hard work of the doctors and health staff at the hospital, the minister encouraged them to take good care of the building and continue providing good and ethical service to the people.

Beginning the construction in January 2021, the surgical building has two floors and 19 rooms and cost about US$900,000.
