New Coach on Board for Cambodian National Wrestling Team

Cambodia has welcomed an Iranian wrestling coach Mr. Komeil Ghasemi who comes to build up the Cambodian National Wrestling Team.

H.E. Ouk Sethycheat, Director General of Sports Department General of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Deputy Secretary General of 2023 Cambodian SEA Games Oganising Committee (CAMSOC), received the coach at Topaz restaurant here in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Caesy Barnett, Vice President of Wrestling Federation of Cambodia (WFC) and Mr. Thin Vichet, Secretary General of WFC, were also present during the welcoming gathering.

H.E. Ouk Sethycheat expressed his optimism that the new coach will further push the capacity of the Cambodian national wrestling team to a new level and get them well ready for the 2022 SEA Games in Vietnam and the 2023 SEA Games hosted by Cambodia.

Mr. Komeil Ghasemi will be the coach for one year under the sports development project of CAMSOC.

The coach was the Olympic gold medalist for freestyle wrestling with the weight of 120 kg in 2012 in London, the Olympic bronze winner with the weight of 125 kg in 2016 in Rio city of Brazil, and the winner of bronze medal for the world championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2014.

He also earned medals of Asian Championships including a gold in Astana, Kazakhstan in 2014, a bronze in Tashkent in 2011 and a silver in Doha, Qatar in 2015.
