Another troop of Cambodia, Multirole Engineer Unit 963, along with necessary materials is ready for United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) deployment early this year.
The affirmation was shared on Jan. 3 by Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mine and Explosive Remnant of War Clearance (NPMEC) during a symbolic seen-off gathering with the troop here in Phnom Penh.
The general underlined that Cambodia's military forces and materials sent for UN peacekeeping operation has been well responsive to the spirit of UN's memorandum.
Taking the opportunity, Gen. Sem Sovanny also forwarded regards of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Minister of National Defence Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh to the troop who will depart for Lebanon on Jan. 18.
The troop of 184 soldiers will replace their counterparts of Unit 369 who will complete their one-year mission and return to Cambodia soon.
Since 2006, Cambodia has sent more than 4,000 troops � 146 of them are women � for the UN peacekeeping operations in Central African Republic, Chad, Cyprus, Lebanon, Mali, South Sudan, Sudan, and Syria.
