The commune/Sangkat council election campaign during the first four days (May 20-23) was conducted smoothly in security, social order and without violence, the National Election Committee (NEC) said in a press release made public yesterday.
According to NEC, campaign activities include distribution of leaflets, caps, T-shirts, slogans, party logos; dissemination of political messages at the party headquarters in communes/Sangkat and through mobile loudspeakers at villages, etc.
In the first four days, it added, a total of 20 complaints were filed with communes/Sangkat election commissions in eight provinces. Of them, 15 were filed by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and 5 by the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP). Two CPP complaints were filed at the provincial level (Takeo and Pailin provinces).
These 20 complaints are now in the resolution process according to the procedures, underlined NEC.
The election campaign for the Commune/Sangkat Council Election of fourth mandate will last two weeks, from May 20 to June 2, while the polling day is scheduled to take place on June 4.
