NBC, IFC Hold Roundtable Discussion on Financial Consumer Protection in Cambodia

The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have co-organised a roundtable discussion on Financial Consumer Protection in Cambodia.

The event took place in Phnom Penh on Dec. 1 under the presidency of H.E. Rath Sovannorak, Assistant Governor and Director General of the NBC’s Banking Supervision, and Mr. Thomas J. Jacobs, IFC Country Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR.

The discussion attracted the participation of financial regulators, Cambodia Microfinance Association, Association of Banks in Cambodia, banks and financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders.

According to NBC, the roundtable discussion aimed at sharing knowledge on market conduct and financial consumer protection regulatory and supervisory framework, as well as providing opportunity for all participants to gather inputs and understand the latest banking market situation, and for IFC and the NBC to continue the cooperation on financial consumer protection framework and supervisors’ capacity building on financial market conduct supervision.
