Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has held a National Consultation Workshop on Production Forest Strategic Plan under the presidency of its Minister H.E. Veng Sakhon.
Taking place yesterday here in Phnom Penh, the event intended to examine progress of the preparation of strategic plan to manage Cambodia forestry products for 2018-2032 and to seek cooperation from concerned development partners in the work.
H.E. Veng Sakhon said that forestry plays a crucial role not only in preserving the environment and preventing climate change, but also in contributing to national economic development.
Cambodia's forest is being threatened by increasing of demand for farmland, wood productions and economic and population growths, continued the minister adding that, however, the Royal Government of Cambodia is working hard to preserve the priceless resource.
With that mentioned, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is putting forward forestry reform programme by reinforcing forest law implementation and promoting the efficacy of forest management.
By far, the ministry has also encouraged the establishment of forest communities as well as forest and wildlife conservation areas.
