NA President Urges for More Attention to Children during the COVID-19 Crisis

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, has appealed to all parents, guardians and stakeholders to pay more attention to children as they are vulnerable to challenges physically and mentally during this COVID-19 crisis.

The appeal was made in his message to his compatriots on the occasion of the 72nd International Children’s Day (June 1) posted on his official Facebook page this morning.

“Attention, care, and investment in children today is for the future of our society and nation,” the NA president underlined.

Due to COVID-19 threat, Cambodia and national and international development partners cannot hold mass meetings to mark this annual event, said Samdech Heng Samrin, adding that Cambodia has adhered to the national constitution, Convention on the Rights of the Child and relevant international laws in response to children’s needs, especially the enhancement of freedom, dignity, equality and safety of children, along with fighting against all forms of violence and abuse against children as well as child labour and trafficking.
