Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA), has requested Sweden's support in building the capacity of Cambodia's education, agriculture, development of smart city, tourism, women's empowerment and digital economy.
The NA president made the request here yesterday while granting a farewell meeting to H.E. Ms. Maria Sargren, Ambassador of Sweden to Cambodia, who will complete her three-year diplomatic mission in Cambodia soon.
The support can take the form of training and scholarship provision to Cambodian students so that they can sharpen their knowledge and skills as well as scientific research in the said areas.
Samdech Heng Samrin thanked Sweden for its development assistance worth about US$100 million in Cambodia, covering mainly human resource betterment, human rights promotion, democracy and gender equality enhancement, climate change adaptation, and grass-roots community development.
He hoped that H.E. Ms. Maria Sargren would maintain good relations with Cambodia and encouraged Swedish investors and tourists to invest and visit the Kingdom.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Maria Sargren praised progress and development in Cambodia, especially in economic sector, contributing to poverty reduction and enhancement of living standards of people in line with the millennium development goals.
The outgoing Swedish ambassador also lauded progress in diplomatic tie, friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Sweden.
