Myanmar Appreciates Cambodia’s Step toward Reopening of Safe Tourism

Myanmar has appreciated Cambodia’s step towards reopening of safe and responsible tourism.
The appreciation was made by H.E. Htay Aung, Minister of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar in a recent meeting with H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism in Sihanouville, Preah Sihanouk province, on the sidelines of the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 (ATF 2022).
This experience will become a good model for Myanmar to restore its tourism sector, added H.E. Htay Aung.
From his end, H.E. Thong Khon underlined the Royal Government of Cambodia’s effort in fighting against COVID-19, especially in building the herd immunity.
The bilateral meeting touched on tourism marketing research and joint promotion, direct flight connection, mutual cooperation on human resources development and exchange of visits for public, private and media sector.
The two ministers also discussed the strengthening of cooperation under sub-regional frameworks such as Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) and Cambodia–Lao PDR–Myanmar–Vietnam (CLMV) cooperation.
