Ms. MINAMINO Yoko Becomes a Goodwill Ambassador for 70th Anniversary of Japan-Cambodia Friendship

Ms. MINAMINO Yoko, a renowned Japanese singer and actress has been appointed the goodwill ambassador for 70th Anniversary of Japan-Cambodia Friendship.

According to the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia’s press release issued this afternoon, the appointment was made on Jan. 18 by H.E. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Japanese Foreign Minister.

Her mandate started from Jan. 18 until Dec. 31, 2023, the source pointed out, adding that it is aimed to boost the exchange between the two countries as this year marks the 70 years of their diplomatic relations.

In a meeting with H.E. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Ms. MINAMINO Yoko expressed her delight to become the goodwill ambassador. She said visited Cambodia in 1989 and 2013.

“I will continue to conduct various activities so that the Cambodian people know more about Japan and vice-versa,” she underlined. “I am really looking forward to visiting Cambodia and meeting the Cambodian people again.”

Ms. MINAMINO Yoko has written and sung the “Rainbow for Tomorrow”, a special song for the friendship between Cambodia and Japan.

The “Rainbow for Tomorrow” had touched the heart of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, when it was introduced to him at the dinner hosted by H.E. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, on April 23, 2022 in Kumamoto city, Japan, on the sideline of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit. In response, Samdech Techo Prime Minister had sent an appreciation letter to Ms. MINAMINO Yoko for her impressive song.
