The Mekong River Commission signed here today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two UN agencies on disaster risk reduction in the region, on the sidelines of the 3rd Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit.
Under this MoU, MRC, the United Nations Office for Project Service (UNOPS) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) will promote the Asia-Pacific Disaster Resilience Network, said Ms. Simonetta Siligato, UNOPS Senior Advisor.
All parties will join in regional research, data and information sharing to further help the MRC member states to achieve the sustainable development goals, she added.
Mr. Huber Staberhofer, Director Cambodia Operation Hub of UNOPS, said regarding this MoU, UNOPS has done some in Myanmar, then in Laos, and will continue to Cambodia.
