Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia will lead a high delegation to the Republic of Korea (ROK) to attend the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit and the First Mekong-ROK Summit in Busan, from Nov. 24-27, 2019.
The presence of Samdech Techo Hun Sen in the two regional events will be made at the invitation of H.E. Moon Jae-in, President of ROK, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation made public this morning.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister will be accompanied by H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, H.E. Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, H.E. Ang Vong Vathana, Minister of Justice, and H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, as well as a number of senior government officials and business leaders from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.
Preceding the Summits, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with H.E. President Moon Jae-in to discuss bilateral cooperation, including matters concerning regional and international issues of common interests and concern, followed by the signing ceremony on a number of important documents between Cambodia and the ROK.
Within the framework of ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will deliver two remarks focusing on ASEAN-ROK dialogue relations 30 years and its future direction in efforts to realise regional integration and sustainable development in the political-security, economic, and socio-cultural fields; and the connectivity enhancement.
In the margins of the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit, Samdech Techo Prime Minister, together with the Leaders from ASEAN Member States and the ROK, will also attend two special events namely the ASEAN-ROK Startup Summit and the ASEAN-ROK Innovation Showcase 2019.
Under the First Mekong-ROK Summit framework, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will deliver a remark focusing on Mekong-ROK cooperation and the way forward in line with the New Southern Policy. Samdech Techo Prime Minister, together with the Leaders of the Mekong countries and the ROK, will also attend the Special Exhibition on Biodiversity Cooperation between Mekong countries and the ROK.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister will be conferred a Honorary Doctorate by the Busan University of Foreign Study, as it recognises leadership role and outstanding achievement in stabilising the politics and advancing the economy of Cambodia as well as promoting the strategic partnership between Cambodia and the ROK.
During his stay in Busan, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will receive a courtesy call by H.E. Oh Keo-don, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City. He will also have a cordial meeting with Cambodian community, students and workers, who are living in the ROK.
It is noted that the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit will mark the 30th Anniversary of the relations between ASEAN and ROK and chart future cooperation to enhance the ASEAN-ROK strategic partnership to a new further height. Furthermore, these two Summits will be another important milestone to further advance the Cambodia-ROK, ASEAN-ROK as well as the Mekong countries-ROK's partnership for their peoples' tangible benefits and prosperity.
Within the Foreign Ministers' framework, H.E. Prak Sokhonn together with other Foreign Ministers of Mekong countries, will have a working dinner with H.E. Mrs. Kang Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK.
