Ministry of Commerce has requested Romania to continue supporting the EBA (Everything But Arms) programme, the European Union's Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), for Cambodia to facilitate its economic and trade diversification for poverty alleviation.
The request was made by H.E. Ms. Tekreth Kamrang, Secretary of State for Commerce, while receiving visiting H.E. Ms. Monica Dorina Gheorghita, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, at the ministry office in Phnom Penh early this week.
On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Tekreth Kamrang thanked H.E. Ms. Monica Dorina Gheorghita for her visit to study the real situation in Cambodia, considering it a new progress to tighten the cooperation between the two countries on prioritised sectors, including commerce. She also took the chance to brief her guest on key achievements in the economic and trade areas under the wise leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC).
In reply, H.E. Ms. Monica Dorina Gheorghita appreciated Cambodia's development, especially its strong economic growth. She promised to inform the real improvement of Cambodia to other EU member countries and the President of European Community to extend EBA to Cambodia in contribution to boost the country's economic growth and job diversification and to increase the people's income.
