Ministry, ILO Discuss Labour Court Preparation Cooperation

The Ministry of Justice and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) have discussed a cooperation on Cambodia’s labour court preparation.

The discussion took place here in Phnom Penh on Oct. 11 between H.E. Koeut Rith, Minister of Justice and Mr. Graeme John BUCKLEY, Director of ILO Country Office for Cambodia, Thailand and Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

H.E. Koeut Rith underlined key aspects of Cambodia’s court system and the court’s competence in solving labour dispute currently.

To ensure a transparent, efficient and reliable labour court, it depends on three pillars which are human resources with labour knowledge, legal framework establishment, and financial and technical support, said the minister.

He also asked ILO to consider supporting the establishment and implementation of joint projects between the ministry, ILO and other development partners to achieve the three pillars so as to establish an effective labour court in the country.
