The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) held here this morning a meeting with private sector to discuss about the country's livestock production, said the ministry's news release.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of MAFF and the Government Co-Chair, and Oknha Mong Reththy, Chairman of Mong Reththy Group and the Private Sector Co-Chair of Working Group on Agriculture & Agroindustry, it pointed.
The meeting touched upon challenges and measures taken to increase animal production, especially pig production and import from neighboring countries as well as sanitary control, it added.
According to an MAFF's report, Cambodia needs more than a million domesticated animals for local consumption. The country has 148 slaughterhouses and about 1.3 million livestock were butchered in 2016.
