Meeting to discuss passenger train service to Phnom Penh Airport and PP Special Economic Zone.

On February 2, 2017 at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, H.E. Sun Chanthol met with Mr. Philippe Chatignoux, Chief of Economic Services at the Embassy of France in Cambodia, and was accompanied by representatives from AgenceFrancaise de Developement (AFD), Royal Railway, Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ), State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), and Cambodia Airports.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the pre-feasibility study on the construction of the railway that will be connecting Phnom Penh to Pochentong (International Airport) and the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ) by March 2018, and to find ways to implement this passenger train service as fast as possible.

The participants also agreed to look at the temporary solution of combining passenger train and bus service from Phnom Penh Train station to the Airport. The Senior Minister expressed his strong appreciation and gratitude to the Embassy of France and the participating stakeholder companies for their ongoing support and assistance in helping to enhance Cambodia's infrastructure development. He suggested that Cambodia Airports and Royal Railway work closely together to implement this important project.
