MEDEVAC: JBPM FLIES ORANG ASLI YOUTH TO HOSPITAL

The Air Unit of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) conducted a medical evacuation flight (Medevac) to take an Orang Asli youth from Kampung Pinchong, Pos Gob, to seek treatment at the Gua Musang Hospital after suffering an electrical shock due to lightning, yesterday.

JBPM Subang air base public relations officer, Mohd Hasrizal Kamaruzzaman, said that patient, Mazlan Roslan, 18, was taken on an Agusta Westland (AW139) aircraft with an escort at 5.38 pm.

“The patient has frequently fainted for the past two days after being struck by lightning while using earphones to listen to music on a mobile phone,” he said in a statement today.

He said that the patient had to be carried even if he is conscious due to his weak condition.

Mohd Hasrizal added that the aircraft arrived at Gua Musang Fire and Rescue station at 5.55 pm before the patient was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

“The position of the tents and buildings near the Kampung Pinchong field made landing difficult. The entire flight lasted for three hours and six minutes with heavy rain in Raub, Pahang,” he said.
