The Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) highly appreciated Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen's efforts as the ASEAN Chair to make progress on the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus through his working visit to Myanmar.
The appreciation was shared by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a press release on the outcomes of the official visit of H.E. Saleumxay KOMMASITH, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR to Cambodia issued this evening.
The Lao foreign minister also underlined his government's full support to Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship and his readiness to offer full support to and work closely with Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn in his capacity as the ASEAN Chair's Special Envoy on Myanmar, it added.

“At the invitation of H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, His Excellency Saleumxay KOMMASITH, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 15-16 February 2022 in order to enhance the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, His Excellency Saleumxay KOMMASITH was granted a Royal Audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI, King of Cambodia. He also paid a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn.
His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn and His Excellency Saleumxay KOMMASITH expressed satisfaction with the fruitful outcomes of the official visit by His Excellency Dr. Phankham VIPHAVANH, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 29-30 November 2021.
His Excellency Saleumxay KOMMASITH expressed high appreciation to Cambodian Government for the provision of medical equipment and vaccines site the beginning of the pandemic, including the latest donation of USD 13 million from the Cambodian government and private sector, Sinovac vaccines and vehicles to Lao PDR.
In a cordial atmosphere of traditional friendship, good neighbourliness, mutual understanding, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn and His Excellency Saleumxay KOMMASITH had an in-depth discussion on both countries’ close relationship and cooperation in politics, trade and investment, socio-economic connectivity, defence and security, transportation linkage, border affairs, tourism, and education.
The two Foreign Ministers noted with satisfaction that their respective concerned ministries are working together to expedite the finalisation of the draft Action Plan for Comprehensive and Long-Lasting Strategic Partnership in order to bring the bilateral relations to a new height.
Regarding regional and international cooperation, Minister Saleumxay KOMMASITH highly appreciated Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen's efforts as the ASEAN Chair to make progress on the implementation of the 5 PC through his working visit to Myanmar. He underlined his government's full support to Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship and his readiness to offer full support to and work closely with Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn in his capacity as the ASEAN Chair's Special Envoy on Myanmar.
The two Ministers also exchanged views on issues of common interests and expressed full support to each other in the ASEAN framework as well as in multilateral fora.”
