Labok Kator, a Khmer traditional martial art, has been recently included on the list of Sea Games 2023 under the official name as Sport Kun, according to local media reports.
The inclusion was supported by Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia, which is enough for the sport to be added to the list.
National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC)'s Secretary General H.E. Vat Chamroeun told the source that Cambodia will dispatch coaches to ASEAN countries to train their athletes, and from the year 2020, Cambodia Labok Kator Federation will hold competitions at the ASEAN level every year until 2023.
Beside Labok Kator, Cambodia will also register Ok Chaktrang (Cambodian traditional chess) on the list of Sea Games 2023.
Cambodia is preparing to host the 32nd SEA Games in Phnom Penh capital city and in some provinces including Kampot, Kep, Takeo, Siem Reap, Battambang and Kampong Cham from Dec. 1 to 15, 2023. The two-week-long event is expected to attract about 10,000 delegates, of them 7,000 are athletes.
