AKP Phnom Penh, The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in collaboration with the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea, will organise an online training on “Social Welfare Policy Empowerment” for Cambodian officials.
Twenty-eight (28) high-level officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) will join the online course from Aug. 30 to Sept. 7, said a press release from KOICA Cambodia Office AKP received this morning.
The objective of this online training is to strengthen social welfare policy capabilities of Cambodian officials to support poverty reduction and improve the quality of life of the disabled, women and children, it pointed out.
According to the source, this intensive training course was designed to 1)- share Korean social welfare cases through lectures and webinars, 2)- check and revise the Action Plans established in the first-year course in 2020 through environmental analysis of the recipient country's social welfare policies.
The Cambodian participants also prepared a country report on the current status of the social welfare system in Cambodia by analysing issues and challenges they would like to address.
In addition, training participants will also develop an action plan led by Korean professors. This action plan will be one of the key documents for the participants to provide alternatives as well as solutions to the problems identified in the country report.
KOICA conducted the online training course, considering that it would be challenging to conduct an invitational training programme in the Republic of Korea this year due to the COVID-19 situation.
In Cambodia, KOICA works in several technical areas on various programmes and projects that substantially impact Cambodia’s development such as improving students’ nutrition and wellbeing, strengthening teacher capacity, public health, agriculture and health’s infrastructure, and innovation.
KOICA will continue to support and implement programmes in Cambodia that target the development of human resources.
From 1994 until 2020, KOICA invited around 3,200 governmental officers to participate in short-term trainings and Master’s degree programmes in the Republic of Korea under KOICA’s Capacity Building Programme.
