The Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) centre, located in Thmar Kaul Referral Hospital in Battambang province, was inaugurated on Nov. 16.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Ms. YeaKyung JI, Deputy Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Cambodia and local officials and authorities.
The NCD centre is part of the “Project to Community-based Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases in Battambang Province”.
The project is supported by KOICA to the Operational District (OD) Thmar Kaul which covers the Thmar Kaul district and Bavel district population through the Heart-to-Heart Foundation in terms of NCDs that focus on diabetes and hypertension.
KOICA, in collaboration with Heart-to-Heart Foundation deeply appreciates the importance of community-based prevention and control of NCDs.
“This project is the benefit for the people in the community from the complication of NCDs. The NCD centre will play a critical role in promoting primary health care for the residents of Thmar Kaul OD scope as well as developing skills to health staff for screening and managing NCDs like hypertension and diabetes,” KOICA said.
“I believe this project and today’s inauguration ceremony of the NCD centre will hold great meaning for those who are exposed to the risk of NCDs and related complications. This centre also represents our enthusiasm and dedication to develop health managing skills to prevent and control NCDs in Cambodia,” Ms. Ji said.
“KOICA will keep working on improving quality, safety, and efficiency in the health sector in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia to reach the government’s Sustainable Development Goal to achieve Universal Health Coverage by the near future,” she added.
