Koh Tonsay Tourism Port to Start Construction This Month

The construction Koh Tonsay tourism port on Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island), some 4 kilometres offshore of Kep province, is set to begin in mid-October and it would take 15 months to complete.

The Koh Tonsay tourism port is part of ADB’s Greater Mekong Sub-region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project Phase II, according to report obtained by AKP.

With an estimated cost of US$1.6 million, the construction of Koh Tonsay tourism port will be conducted by a local firm –Vimean Chey Group.

The port construction was discussed in a virtual meeting held on Sept. 30 by relevant officials from Kep provincial administration, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Public Works and Transports, Ministry of Tourism, representatives of ADB, and contracted firm.

The construction activities will kick off on Oct. 14, 2021 and is expected to complete on Jan. 15, 2023.

The province is currently renovating onshore international tourist port, located across the Chhak Kep bay from Koh Tonsay Island.
