Khmer New Year Celebrated in South Korea

Cambodian Minister of Labour and Ambassador to South Korea have organised Khmer New Year gathering with Cambodian migrant workers, students and residents in the country.

According to the Minister, H.E. Ith Samheng, and the Ambassador, H.E. Long Dimanche, the celebration does not only cheer the New Year itself, but also aims to unite and network the Cambodians there and to share key updates among them.

While sharing a wide range of additional support services by the Royal Government of Cambodia especially for the Cambodian migrant workers in the Republic of Korea, H.E. Ith Samheng urged them to fully comply with the country's laws, extend good cooperation with the locals, and work hard to accumulate knowledge, skills and experience from their work.

More than 50,000 Cambodians have so far attained technical vocational skills from the Republic of Korea; and the skills are badly needed here in Cambodia

Cambodian workers in the Republic of Korea generated an average annual income of around US$600 million.

Hundreds of Cambodians attended the event taking place at the same time when Cambodia here at home is joyfully observing the New Year from Apr. 14-16.
