Cambodia and the Japan International Cooperation (JICA) have organised the 2nd Joint Coordinating Committee for the Project for Improvement of Logistics System in Cambodia Phase 2.
The meeting took place under the auspices of H.E. Koy Sodany, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Ms. Miyahara Ai, Senior Representative of JICA Cambodia Office at the ministry here in Phnom Penh recently.
According to JICA Cambodia, the purpose of the meeting is to review the overall project progress and achievements and the remaining tasks including policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation of Logistics Master Plan, and border improvement.
The ministry and JICA have launched the technical cooperation project phase 1 in October 2018 and the phase 2 of the project has been implemented from October 2020 to July 2023.
It aimed at enhancing the capacity of logistics related stakeholders through the implementation of Logistics Master Plan to achieve reliable and cost-effective logistics system in Cambodia.
The project focuses on main policies such as green logistics, transport modernisation, regional hub establishment, and development of monitoring and evaluation tools and guidelines as well as coordination with bordering countries.
It is expected that the project will contribute positively to Cambodia’s economic growth and foster the country’s development potentials throughout the region.
