Japan Supports Construction of Agricultural Warehouses

The Government of Japan has approved a new support project for the construction of agricultural warehouses in Cambodia.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Cambodia’s press release this morning, the Government of Japan has approved the new project funding, which is equivalent to some US$41,568, from the Counterpart Fund for the implementation of the “Food Security Project for Underprivileged Farmers”.

This project will involve the construction of two agricultural warehouses in Kampong Chhnang and Thbong Khmum provinces, said the source, pointing out that the warehouses will enable the proper storage of rice seed, which will ensure that high quality, and domestically produced seed is available to Cambodian farmers.

“We sincerely hope that this new project will contribute to an increase in agricultural productivity and higher incomes for rice farmers,” said the embassy.
