HKETO Delegation Seek Understanding of Infrastructure Development in Cambodia

A delegation of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Bangkok, led by its Director Mr. Sheung-Yuen Lee has sought understanding of infrastructure development in Cambodia.

The interest was unveiled during a meeting with H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, at the ministry office on June 16.

Mr. Sheung-Yuen Lee thanked the minister for his confirmation to attend the 7th Belt and Road Summit to be held on Aug. 31, 2022 in Hong Kong.

The director also briefed the minister on HKETO’s activities, experience and its good practice in world class port management skills and many other potentials. He further expressed his interest in positive change and development on Cambodia’s infrastructure sector.

For his part, H.E. Sun Chanthol mentioned about advantages that Cambodia has gained from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), believing that it will boost Cambodia’s economic development and enhance people’s livelihood.

The minister also raised Cambodia’s infrastructure development process since 1998 through assistance from China, Japan, Republic of Korea, WB, ADB and many other development partners.

H.E. Sun Chanthol further highlighted main investment projects achieved by the Royal Government in physical infrastructure development, and hoped that the HKETO delegation would consider 330 development projects which need US$50 billion for a ten-year period as stated in the logistics master plan in contribution to increasing Cambodia’s competitiveness in logistics and transport.
