His Majesty the King Designates Samdech Techo Hun Sen as Prime Minister

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, today designated Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to be the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to a royal decree signed by the monarch and released to the media this afternoon, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia has the duty to organise the component of the Royal Government of Cambodia for approval from the National Assembly (NA).

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen wrote a thank-you letter to His Majesty the King. He also pledged to do his best to serve the whole nation and people.

The inaugural session of the NA born from the 6th National Election on July 29, 2018 will take place in the morning of Sept. 5, 2018 under the chairmanship of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, then the newly elected lawmakers will take oath at the Royal Palace in the afternoon.

The next day, Sept. 6, the NA will hold its first session in the morning to elect its new leadership and to form the new Cabinet, and then the new cabinet members will be sworn in in the afternoon of the same day, while the Cabinet's first meeting will be on Sept. 7, 2018.
