The movement of domestic tourists, both national and International, is expected to be more active during the upcoming Khmer New Year holiday, which falls in mid-April.
H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, said on Mar. 30 that the capital and provinces have reportedly organised entertainment programmes at major tourism destinations for the long holiday.
This is an estimated tourism trend in the upcoming holiday despite the petrol price hike, he underlined.
The tourism minister placed high hopes on the resumption of visa on arrival programme, scrapping both PCR and rapid tests for fully vaccinated passengers, and no requirement for proof of 72 hour negative COVID-19 tests, which will encourage more foreign tourists to visit Cambodia during the holiday.
In the first three months of this year, domestic foreign tourist movements were tracked at 3 million nationwide while national tourists at 5 million.
H.E Thong Khon called on all local authorities and tourism-related businesses to set up safe recreational places and implement prescribed health measures against the COVID-19 spread.
Cambodia reported only 33 new COVID-19 cases this morning.
