The Ministry of Health this evening confirmed another death case due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) ; bringing the total fatal cases in Cambodia to 3.
According to the ministry’s press release, the victim – a 46-year-old Cambodian man – passed away this afternoon, at 3:40. He lived in Sangkat Boeung Salang, Khan Tuol Kok, Phnom Penh. He was tested positive for the deadly virus on Mar. 10 and admitted to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital.
This morning, a 62-year-old Cambodian patient also died of COVID-19. She is the wife of former well-known singer Hour Lavy being quarantined at his house, and the mother of singer Miss Vy Dyneth, being hospitalised due to COVID-19.
The first death case – a 50-year-old Cambodian man in Phnom Penh – was announced on Mar. 11, 2021. He was the driver of an infected Chinese national in Preah Sihanouk province.
Threat of COVID-19 is recurring in Cambodia following the outbreak of community transmission called Feb. 20 Community Event.
Cambodia’s tally increased to 1,578 with the detection of 37 new cases of COVID-19 this morning. Of them, 917 have successfully recovered.
