Cambodia's Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Related Meetings to be held in Manila, the Philippines from Aug. 5 to 8, 2017.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation made public this morning, at the invitation of Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, Hon. Alan Peter S. Cayetano, H.E. Prak Sokhonn and his ASEAN counterparts will take part in the Meeting of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ) Commission; ASEAN Foreign Ministers Interface with the Representatives of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR); 50th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (50th AMM); Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs); 18th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Meeting (18th APT FMM); 7th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting (7th EAS FMM); 24th ASEAN Regional Forum (24th ARF); and the Grand Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN.
As country coordinator of the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Dialogue Relations, H.E. Prak Sokhonn will co-chair with H.E. Ms. Kang Kyung-wha, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea, the Post Ministerial Conference+1 with the Republic of Korea.
Under the theme Partnering for Change, Engaging the World, the 50th AMM and Related Meetings will focus on shaping ASEAN's agenda as a major global player after 5 decades of its establishment. At the same time, given its geopolitical situation and the evolution of regional architectures, ASEAN has gradually become a competitive region among major countries on security and economic engagements.
On the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, H.E. Senior Minister will attend the 10th Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) Ministerial Meeting; 10th Mekong-Japan Foreign Ministers' Meeting; and 10th Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Ministerial Meeting.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn will also hold bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers and heads of delegation of some countries, and together with his ASEAN counterparts, he will pay courtesy call on H.E. Rodrigo R. Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines.
